nyc - brooklyn, part three .

all in all, brooklyn is a new favorite spot to visit while in nyc! it is a beautiful, family-oriented neighborhood, that provides a nice breather from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. we loved our little day trip over there  and will probably do it again in the future, when we have some time!

2) the merry-go-round by the Brooklyn Bridge

nyc - brooklyn , part two .

BROOKLYN BRIDGE PARK .

so after our stroll along the promenade, and through the streets of brooklyn, we finally made it to the base of the bridge near the park . being october, there were all kinds of Fair-types of things going on, including cute little tots walking around in their halloween costumes early -- who doesn't love that??

so we grabbed something to eat as we passed by here (which, incidentally, contained the first Knish i've ever had. WOW. why haven't i had one of these before??? and, yes, the NY pretzels are just as yummy as they look . . .)  --->

we got the cell phones out, went on a wild goose chase, and finally found lyndsey (lauryn's cousin) and her family! success! so we hung around the Brooklyn Bridge Park (i think?!!) and then headed to the merry-go-round . . . it was so cool.  i tried and tried to get pics of lauryn, lyndsey and her cutie-pie little baby Ava as they whipped by, but i couldn't capture them!!  still practicing with the camera and settings.  i'll throw a few on here that i did get of the picturesque merry-go-round, though!

and the next bridge over from the Brooklyn Bridge (which the merry-go-round is just beside) -- the Manhattan Bridge.

ava, lyndsey & lauryn having a giggle!

nyc - brooklyn , part one .

BROOKLYN PROMENADE --

lauryn (my brother's wife) and i have been lucky enough to get to travel together to NYC a couple of times now. we have the best time (GIRLS TRIP!!!) and walk and talk our way through the whole week!!  i've started going through my pictures from october (yeah....it's about time, ha!) and hope to post them in bite-sized pieces . . . there are a ton :)

we stay with some of lauryn's cousins, so we get some good catching up time there-- and then we usually try to meet up with more of her family while we are visiting the city.  the saturday we decided to head out to Brooklyn was one of our last days there and one of the few that we dragged our cameras with us. we were SO glad we did! it was a GORGEOUS day. and since we had never fully experienced Brooklyn before, was the perfect day to stroll, have time to take some photos and generally, soak up the place.

we thought we were meeting at the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, so we started there.  ended up that wasn't where we were meeting up (it was actually the Brooklyn Bridge Park area...we had a bit of a trek to go, hahaha) but it was a *beautiful* and open view of the city across the river.  we took some time to chill and sit (being worn out from the unplanned shopping we did on the way there that we were now lugging along with us) and THEN we started taking fun / ridiculous pictures of each other (smiley face here!). there are rolls and rolls (i guess you would say, files and files, now) of film to prove this... i'll just give you two of our best ones, though ;).  scroll to see!

1-4) walking from the Promenade to the Brooklyn Bridge. BEAUTIFUL fall leaves!
5-6) being silly on the Promenade . . .
7-8) finally, made it to the Brooklyn Bridge!
9) last shot from the Promenade

this little lady liberty and the twin towers, were some among many, little
bits of the city that are on little gates that protect trees on thesidewalk .
little bits of nyc love!

and here we are burning some time, on the Promenade --->

so, we walked and walked...and we were getting hungry and a little tired (aka: cranky! LOL. we needed some food and drinks!) and then we see THIS . . . no turning back!!

. . . which was totally okay, because then we see . . . THIS. the Brooklyn Bridge, in all of it's architectural glory!!  the thing is AMAZING up close . you don't realize how big it is until you are down here staring straight up . it's awe-inspiring!

a last one of me--love this that lauryn took! i feel like this is 'me', not where i'm doing my 'photo smile'. thanks, lauryn!
